Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of 2023.
The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
