Greater Manchester Synagogue Attack Victims Named

Mr. Cravitz, sixty-six, resided in Crumpsall - the area where the local synagogue is found, according to law enforcement.

Two men losing their lives in a violent incident on a Jewish house of worship in Manchester have been revealed by police as Adrian Daulby, aged 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Three more people continue receiving medical care with critical wounds after the assailant used an automobile into individuals before attacking with a knife on the morning of the incident.

The violent incident, which police have said was a terrorist incident, occurred on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day in the Jewish faith.

The perpetrator, who was killed by police at the scene, was a 35-year-old UK national of Syrian background who was not on record to terrorism investigators, per official statements.

Official Statements

"We are devastated," Britain's senior Jewish leader stated.

In an interview with a major broadcast, he said: "What transpired yesterday was a devastating impact to us, something which we had been concerned about might happen because of the preceding circumstances."

The attack was not only "a very dark time" for Jewish citizens nationwide "but for all of our society," he emphasized.

Security Measures

"Our obligation is to guarantee our Jewish population, our people can go about their lives with protection and peace of mind," a senior government official stated.

"I do not want Jewish people in our country to feel compelled to live a limited religious practice, that they cannot go about their business and observe their religion and attend their religious centers in liberty," she stated.

The attacker was not known to terrorism investigators, she told news organizations, and it was "premature" to say if there was a terrorist cell behind the attack.

Police Inquiry

The law enforcement inquiry was "moving forward quickly" and there was an additional law enforcement visibility at religious institutions across the UK.

"Funding is available for security funding," the representative stated, adding: "We must evaluate what further actions we can take to combat rising antisemitism."

Greater Manchester police said they were supporting the families of the two victims.

"My deepest sympathies are with the families of the victims at this extremely hard time," law enforcement leadership expressed.

He indicated that specialized support personnel were in contact with them and would maintain assistance through the investigative procedures.

"Although procedures exist which must be followed, we pledge to remain sensitive of cultural preferences and concerns and to ensuring that these men and their relatives' requests are respected," he continued, stating that the deceased individuals were from Crumpsall.

Autopsies are being conducted on the following day, as confirmed by government statements.
